Five hundred riders and an equal number of cattle spent one week tracing a historic cattle route from Kissimmee to Kenansville. Emerging on the final day in the palmetto prairie of Three Lakes Wildlife Management Area in Osceola County, people, horses and cattle blend into a landscape reminiscent of centuries past. This landscape forms the headwaters of the Everglades. Protecting the rangeland from development is important for Everglades restoration and wildlife corridors.
